Silvia-Maria Stoicescu is Professor of Neonatology at University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Carol Davila”, Bucharest, Romania, neonatology, and pediatrics specialist with experience in neonatal intensive care. She is also involved in various post-graduation education programs, aimed at helping residents, medics, nurses, and midwives.
She’s been in the field of neonatology for over thirty years. She is the founder first Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and rooming-in system in Romania.
She coordinated national neonatal programs in surfactant treatment, mechanical ventilation, neonatal resuscitation, national guidelines, first neonatology journal, always looking to bring innovations and new techniques of helping the high-risk newborn.
She is the founding member and first president of Neonatology Association of Romania and Romanian Society of Perinatal Medicine, a member of Union of European Neonatal and Perinatal Societies and part of the board of International Neonatology Association.
The field of interest is neonatal and perinatal medical care, both for high-risk newborns and healthy term infants, promoting mother-newborn-family bond with a positive impact on long-term individual health.
